A few years ago, I started this blog, Careen’s Corner, because I felt I could relate to the needs of younger mothers in the throes of parenting, a journey I had walked five times with our sons. Now, I’m on a different journey as a full-time caregiver and I realize the need for rest, hope, and encouragement is even stronger and this new normal is just as relatable.
When COVID quarantine hit, I nearly stopped blogging (my last entry was December 2022). Recently I’ve felt the urge to resume it—mainly because I continuously encounter others who are in the challenging, confusing, tiring, and often discouraging demands of care giving. Putting my feelings on paper is the therapy I crave when I feel overcome by new circumstances and challenges I never wanted to face. And what you’ll find here is a lot of raw emotion.
While I don’t have twelve easy steps for success or simple answers to deeply emotional questions, I do have the desire to give you a gift of encouragement. If sharing my personal journey brings any measure of comfort or hope to you, then my heart is blessed. Believing my experience is redemptive helps me to cope.
So, let me come alongside you, put my arm around your shoulders, and share my heart with you as we walk this difficult path together.
